How it all started...
The Sanctuary has an amazing story of God’s blessings. Our roots go back to 1976 when a new church was born, called 17th Street Church of God.
At this point incredible growth began to take place. We began to see new ministries, new opportunities, and many, many new faces in the family. In a short span of time we’ve relocated where we are now and the church church was “re-launched” as The Sanctuary Church in January of 2002. The church body just keeps reaching out, and keeps seeing God do amazing things.
The Sanctuary has gone from being a quaint country neighborhood church, to a community church, a church that reaches people in several counties throughout North Alabama. The one key to the amazing story at The Sanctuary is the striving to be a UNITED WORKFORCE that God is using. Our church is amazingly blessed with people who serve with all their hearts. Above all else, we value the Spirit of unity in all we do.

Expanding the vision...
In the aftermath of the Covid-19 era, our church is among many American churches undergoing renewal. Despite our compact size, our congregation operates on a large scale, delivering exceptional music, worship experiences, children's programs, and media outreach. We invite individuals who share our vision to join us in spreading Christ's teachings to the world.
